Camp Lejeune Lawsuit
Over a timespan covering four decades, thousands of individuals were exposed to toxic water at North Carolina’s United States Marine Core Base Camp Lejeune, putting them at risk of developing serious illnesses, including cancer.
Eight wells identified at Camp Lejune were found to be contaminated with toxic and carcinogenic chemicals known to cause cancer and other illnesses. These wells supplied everyone from service members and civilian workers, to the on-site daycare.
To date, exposure to this contaminated water supply has been linked to a broad range of medical illnesses and conditions, including several forms of cancer, birth defects, reproductive issues, psychological issues, mental impairment, Parkinson’s disease, and more.
What is the Camp Lejeune Water Lawsuit About?
Marines and their families were exposed to toxic chemicals found to be present in the water supply at Camp Lejeune.
When tested, the water at Camp Lejeune was determined to be adulterated with more than 3,000x the established ‘safe limit’ for such toxins.
Toxins found in the water supply have been proven to be carcinogenic, leading to an increased risk of developing cancer.
Specifically, the water supply at Camp Lejeune was found to have been heavily contaminated with what’s known as volatile organic compounds (VOCs) as well as cancer-causing agents, including tetrachloroethylene (PCE) and trichloroethylene (TCE).
Other Symptoms In Addition to Cancer
According to medical experts, exposure to these chemicals may also cause a broad range of undesirable and harmful effects, including but not limited to:
- Headaches
- Reduced coordination
- Disturbances of the senses
- Confusion
- Depression
- Tension and anxiety
- Difficulty concentrating
- ADHD
- Reduced reaction times
- Brain damage
- And more…

Statute of Limitations May no Longer Apply
Originally, claims for compensation were denied, leaving marines and their families left to suffer. However, a new law, the ‘Camp Lejeune Justice Act of 2022’ is expected to override the statute of limitations preventing marines and their families from getting the justice they deserve.
Who is Eligible to File a Camp Lejeune Lawsuit?
Now, any individual who worked or lived at Camp Lejeune between the years 1953-1987, who subsequently suffered from water toxicity-related conditions or illnesses (including cancer), may be eligible to file a claim for compensation from the U.S. government.
Similarly, mothers who were or became pregnant while at Camp Lejeune may also be entitled to compensation for injuries or complications regarding the birth of their child, including but not limited to birth defects.
